
Lior Gerenstein
Lior Gerenstein is the Chief Technology Officer at Via.
In his current role, Lior leads the company’s technology vision, scaling global engineering teams, and driving innovation across its transit technology platform. Under his leadership, Via has expanded its capabilities to power advanced on-demand, paratransit, and transit systems in hundreds of cities worldwide.He shepherded Via’s technology and engineering through hypergrowth, expanding global technical capabilities, launching mission-critical transit products, and overseeing integration of key acquisitions. Lior led the technological M&A integrations of Remix, a transport-planning SaaS acquired by Via in 2021, which added sophisticated mapping and transit design tools used by 350+ cities across 22 countries, and Citymapper, acquired in 2023, which brought Via’s platform a best-in-class rider journey-planning experience serving more than 50 million users in over 100 cities.
Prior to Via, Lior co-founded Fleetonomy in 2017, an AI-driven, cloud-based fleet management startup that delivered mobility optimization solutions for clients including Audi, Toyota, Hertz and Jaguar Land Rover; following rapid traction, the company exited to Via in 2020, accelerating Via’s expansion into logistics and delivery while underpinning its ambitions to digitally power both people and goods mobility around the world.
Lior began his career in Israel’s elite military intelligence unit, where he honed his expertise in high-complexity software systems and data-driven solutions. His unique blend of deep technical leadership, entrepreneurial grit, and M&A savvy makes him a critical force in aligning technology with strategic growth for both startup and scale-up ventures.
Lior holds a degree in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University.
